Guerrilla Fund Raising
How to sell lots of Coupon Books, Guerrilla Style
Many school systems and other charitable organizations put together coupon books and have people sell them to raise money. What they will do is have people either purchase books to resell or make a commitment to sell a certain number of them. If it is done right, it is a great idea. They can raise lots of money, and the people who buy the books get their money back many times over by making numerous purchases. Generally, the coupons are anything from a free sandwich to five dollars off a twenty-five dollar purchase at a restaurant. There are probably 50, 75 to 100 or more coupons like that; and if you eat out three or four times, you get you money back, so the coupon books are a great idea. If you really want to sell some of these coupon books, more than just a few, here is something that I learned from a friend of mine, who is a “natural-born” Guerrilla Marketer. Find those few coupons that can be worth a lot more than the book itself: Two-for-One coupons to an attraction or a percentage discount at a store where large purchases are made. If a store is offering a 10% discount on purchases of up to $1000, which makes that one coupon is worth $100, which is a lot more than what the entire coupon book cost! Sell the coupon books to people going into the attraction or the store!
My friend sells them outside or an attraction, and she sells lots of them. Since this is a fund raiser and not for profit, it is pretty easy to get permission to do this (unless it is Target, they even banned the Salvation Army bell ringers). That is one example of Guerrilla Fund raising; use a little Time, Energy, Imagination and Knowledge, and go for it.
